Proposed drill rods can be used with all types of drill rigs, which are applied in exploration, in construction with keeping the following conditions:
- during the drill column connection and the jostle of the drill column through the drill pipe spinner diameter of the deepening channel must be bigger than the diameter of drill rod’s tool joint;
- during the absence of the regulator of the twisting moment on the spinner its maximum ratio mustn’t increase the regulated moment of the drill string  drag of the drill rod’s threading connection;
-  if the maximum moment of the spinner is less of the recommended moment of the balk of the threading connection . The last one is ensured with the special equipment (tube-turner).

Note:

  • Changes on marking-off tool joints’ threads (without dimensional changes of the diameter and the thread’s profile):
  • Z-45 – replaceable Z-42;
  • Z-53 – replaceable Z-50;
  • Z-67 – replaceable Z-63.5.
  • It is possible to produce drill rods from customer’s raw material (drill rod’s blank can be as smooth as with upset ends).

3. The aggregated the drilling tools (keys. reducers. elevators and etc.) for rods, which are used in operation with rods SRPBC, are completely compatible with drill rods SUDR.

Note:

  • According to the customer’s agreement drill rods can be made with length from 0.7m up to 6.2 m.
  • Drill rods are made of steel 36G2S and according to the customer’s agreement made of steel 45, tool joints of 40ХН.
  • It is possible to produce drill rods with diameter 63.5mm; 70mm and 80mm with wall thickness 7mm; 8mm or 9 mm according to coordinated drawing.
  • It is possible to produce the drill rod of Non-Standard Raw with tool joints of increased diameter according to coordinated drawing. For example: SUDR 63.5 with tool joint, which has diameter 70 mm. The resource of the rod is not regulated.

  • Mechanical properties of the material of the drill rod’s body are shown after the normalization and it is spread for the weld-on seam.
  • Mechanical properties of the details’ material of tool joints are shown after the valuable thermal treatment (increasing).
  • Exposed hardness after the quenching with High Frequency Currents(HFC):

Advantages of using in your operation SUDR with Weld-on Tool Joints:

  • For the reduction of the wear-resistance during the drilling we undergo the body of the drill rod and weld-on tool joints to the superficial quenching with High Frequency Currents (HFC). This also provides the keeping of the straight-lined drill rod for the whole period of exploitation;
  • For the exclusion of the thread’s jamming, the increasing of the wear resistance we produce tool joints of the alloyed steel –40 XH with the following carbonitration (chemical thermal treatment),which gives the superficial hardness of the thread 55HRC. At the result failures of the drill rod are practically excluded because of the wear resistance of the thread.
  • For the reduction of the possibility of breakages we reduced the number of week elements of the column (threads), connecting details of the tool joint with the body of the drill rod with friction welding. Weld-on  seam of the SUDR is durable in 1.5 times than the rod’s thread.
  • For the maximum alleviation of the drill column we have foreseen the production of rods with the minimum wall thickness from 3.5 mm.
  • Smooth-boring of the drill column reduces the effect of the breakages of the well’s wall and it helps to have the uniformity of the wear resistance of the column through the body of the rod and the tool joint.
  • SUDR provides an excellent balancing of the drill column and it lets to drill on high frequencies owing to the ideal alignment of the tool joint and the rod, and also reduction of the gap between the column and walls of the well. It also helps to reduce power expenses, i.e. energy expenses in drilling process.

Drill rod with slots (S) on tool joints with diameter 55 mm, wall thickness 4.5 mm, normalized, with the length 4.7 m:
